Positive Points:
Exceptional ambiance, like stepping back in time to a Parisian bistro.
The food was incredible, authentic French cuisine cooked to perfection.
Service was impeccable, attentive without being intrusive, attentive and friendly service, made us feel very welcome.
Extensive wine list with excellent recommendations from the knowledgeable sommeliers.
Live jazz band created a fantastic atmosphere.
Beautifully presented dishes, a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach.
The steak frites were to die for, cooked exactly to my liking.
Great cocktails, perfect for a pre-dinner drink.
Hidden gem in the city, perfect for a special occasion.
Romantic and intimate setting, ideal for a date night.
The decor is stunning, very opulent and atmospheric.
Negative Points:
Very expensive, even for the quality of food and service.
Extremely loud, difficult to have a conversation.
Long wait times for food, even with a reservation.
Some dishes were overly rich and heavy.
Service could be slow at times, especially when busy.
Not the best place for a quiet or intimate meal.
On top of the already expensive food and surcharge, they try to get every last dollar out of their customers. Be careful at this place.
Food was a bit strong for me - a bit on the salty side.
Someone said: My friend and I queued for over 40 mins for the happy hour experience only to be told that we will be paying full price because they made us wait that long. The waitress and the host did not warn us despite the 40 min wait that once it's past 6 pm we had to pay full price. The waitress served other people who queued after us and nonchalantly dismissed us when we raised our concerns.
One review mention: When our steak arrived, the nose of the steak was cut off, indicating that the chef kept a bit for himself. Yes, it was that obvious that the steak did not look whole.
They make customers queue forever, they don't provide any cutlery for the bar menu.
Good jazz vibe, drinks and food are not worth the price tag.

Restaurant Hubert presents a mixed bag, with a growing number of concerning negative reviews. While its ambiance, live music, and extensive wine list receive consistent praise, the high prices, noise levels, and increasingly frequent reports of inconsistent service and questionable practices (like cutting portions, not honoring happy hour, and slow service) raise red flags.
Is it worth visiting?
While Restaurant Hubert might initially seem alluring with its Parisian charm, the accumulation of negative experiences reported by patrons suggests a decline in quality and customer satisfaction. The high cost, potential for slow or inattentive service, questionable practices, and noise levels might overshadow the experience, making it a risky choice.
Given the significant number of negative reviews highlighting potentially serious issues, it is advisable to exercise caution and consider alternative dining options in Sydney. While the ambiance and concept might be appealing, the numerous reports of negative experiences suggest that Restaurant Hubert might not live up to its initial promise.
