France-Bonjour, Paris! A 10-Day Adventure Through the City of Lights (and Baguettes)

It's official, I'm in love with Paris! This city is a dream come true, a whirlwind of romance, art, history, and of course, delicious food. I spent 10 glorious days exploring its every nook and cranny, and I'm here to share my Parisian adventure with you.


Weather: Paris has a temperate oceanic climate with mild, wet winters and warm, sunny summers.

  • Spring (March-May): Mild and pleasant with temperatures ranging from 10-18°C (50-64°F).

  • Summer (June-August): Warm and sunny with temperatures around 20-25°C (68-77°F).

  • Autumn (September-November): Mild and crisp with temperatures ranging from 10-15°C (50-59°F).

  • Winter (December-February): Cold and wet with temperatures around 5-10°C (41-50°F).


General Tips:

  • Language: While English is widely spoken in tourist areas, learning a few basic French phrases will enhance your experience.

  • Currency: The currency is the Euro (EUR).

  • Transportation: Paris has an extensive public transportation system, including the metro, buses, and trams.

  • Food: French cuisine is renowned worldwide. Be sure to try traditional dishes like croissants, baguettes, and escargots.

  • Culture: Paris is a city of art, fashion, and history. Be respectful of local customs and traditions.

  • Safety: Paris is generally a safe city, but it's always wise to be aware of your surroundings.

  • Visa: Depending on your nationality, you may need a visa to enter France. Check the French embassy website for visa requirements.

Day 1: Louvre, Palais Royal, and a Dinner with a View

My first day in Paris was a whirlwind of excitement. I arrived at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) and took the RER B train to Gare du Nord. After checking into my budget-friendly hotel, the ibis Budget Paris La Villette 19eme, I was ready to conquer the city.


My first stop was LE CAFÉ QUI PARLE (map) (€20-€30) for a delicious breakfast.(Just 26 mins from Hotel).

Recommended: Poached Egg with Cream of Bacon, Homemade Foie Gras with Dried Figs, Marinated Salmon with Gravlax Sauce, Roasted Saint-Marcellin Crumble with Dried Fruits, Burgundy Snails.


Then, I headed to the Louvre Museum (map) (€0-€22) to see the Mona Lisa and other masterpieces around 23 mins to get there. I was blown away by the sheer scale and beauty of the museum.

For lunch, I enjoyed a traditional French meal at La Tour Montlhery chez denise (map) nearby the Museum approx. 7 mins walk (€30-€50).

Recommended: Entrecote, Beef Tartare, Filet Américain, Parfait, Rum Baba, Chocolate Mousse


In the afternoon, I wandered through the beautiful Palais Royal (map), a hidden oasis in the heart of the city.

Recommended: Stroll through the Jardin du Palais Royal, Admire the Domaine National du Palais-Royal architecture, Visit the Église Saint-Roch, Enjoy a performance at La Comedie Francaise, see the Le Kiosque des Noctambules metro entrance, explore the Les Colonnes de Buren art installation.


Then, I climbed the Arc de Triomphe (map) (€16) for panoramic views of Paris (Buy Ticket: Here). The city stretched out before me, a breathtaking tapestry of lights and buildings.

Recommended: Climb to the top for panoramic views of Paris, See the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the eternal flame, Admire the relief sculptures on the pillars, Read the names of battles and generals inscribed on the arch, Visit the viewing platform and the museum inside.


To end my day on a high note, I dined in style on a Bustronome Paris (map) (€50-€120). It was a unique and unforgettable experience, dining on delicious food while cruising through the city.

Day 2: Impressionism, Opera, and the Eiffel Tower

Day two was all about art and romance. I started with a delicious breakfast at Wild & The Moon Opéra (map) (€20-€30) and then headed to the Musée d'Orsay (map) (€12-€16) to admire Impressionist masterpieces, 22 mins walk from Breakfast. The museum was filled with light and color, and I spent hours lost in the paintings.

Recommended: view the largest collection of Impressionist and post-Impressionist masterpieces.

Explore works by Monet, Manet, Degas, Renoir, Cézanne, Seurat, Sisley, Gauguin, and Van Gogh.

Visit the former Gare d'Orsay railway station building. See the iconic clock overlooking Paris.

Admire the architecture of the Beaux-Arts building.


For lunch, I grabbed a bite at Bistrot Victoires (map) (€10-€30), a charming bistro with a cozy atmosphere, 24 mins walk from museum. In the afternoon, I explored the opulent Palais Garnier (map) (€15), home to the Paris Opera. (Buy Ticket: Here). The building was stunning, both inside and out, and I felt like I was stepping back in time.

Recommended: View the Marc Chagall-painted ceiling, explore the richly decorated public areas, visit the opera museum and library.


Then, it was time for the iconic Eiffel Tower (map) (Ticket: €11-€120). Buy Ticket (Eiffel Tower): Here. I ascended to the top for sunset views, and the city was bathed in a golden glow. It was truly magical.

Recommended: Purchase tickets online in advance to avoid long queues, visit the different floors for unique perspectives of Paris. Capture the moment with photos from the Trocadéro Gardens for the best views of the tower.


To end the day, I enjoyed seafood at Pedra Alta (map) (€30-€50), a restaurant with a lively atmosphere.

Recommended: Try the seafood platter, especially the lobster, and the steak which is also highly recommended. Savor the Portuguese-style seafood rice that comes with hot seafood dishes.

Day 3: Grand Palais, Seine River Cruise, and Indian Delights

Day three was a mix of culture, relaxation, and culinary adventure. I started with a delightful breakfast at Bon Bouquet Café (map) (€2-€10) and then explored the grand Grand Palais (map) (Ticket: €10) and Petit Palais (free). The Grand Palais is a stunning building, and I was impressed by the art exhibitions on display. The Petit Palais was just as beautiful, and I enjoyed wandering through its gardens.


For lunch, I indulged in truffle-infused cuisine at La Maison de la Truffe (map)

 (€10-€150). It was a splurge, but it was worth every penny!

Recommended: Famous truffle risotto, try the tagliatelles with duck foie gras and truffle cream for a rich flavor. Purchase truffle products to take home, like truffle oil or truffle chips.


In the afternoon, I took a leisurely Seine River Cruise (map) (€16-€32) and admired the city from a different perspective, around 20 mins walk from restaurant. To end the day, I had a delicious Indian meal at New Jawad Longchamp (map)(€10-€50). The food was flavorful and aromatic, and I loved the vibrant atmosphere of the restaurant.


Day 4: Picasso, Conciergerie, and Parisian Shopping

Day four was all about history and culture. I started with a café au lait at Café des Musées (map) (€2-€10) and then headed to the Musée Picasso (map)

Recommended: Discover Picasso's personal archives, including letters and photographs, explore the largest public collection of Picasso's work in the world.


For lunch, I grabbed a quick and tasty burger at TATA Burger (map) (€2-€3). In the afternoon, I explored the historic Conciergerie (map) (€12-€13), a former royal palace that was later used as a prison during the French Revolution. To end the day, I indulged in some retail therapy at Hema (map) (€10-€50), a Dutch department store with a wide variety of products. I found some great souvenirs and gifts for my friends and family. For dinner, I savored Mediterranean flavors at Ya Bayté (map) (€1-€20), a cozy restaurant with a warm atmosphere.


Day 5: Champs-Élysées, Tuileries Garden, and Parisian Charm

Day five was all about Parisian charm. I started with a hearty breakfast at Cafe Blanche (map) (€12-€13) and then strolled down the iconic Champs-Élysées (map) (16 mins walk from Cafe). The street was bustling with life, and I loved watching the people go by.

In the afternoon, I relaxed in the beautiful Jardin des Tuileries (map) a peaceful oasis in the heart of the city. I spent hours reading a book and enjoying the sunshine. (10 mins walk)

To end the day, I experienced Parisian charm at Le Bouillon Chartier (€3-€15) (MAP), a traditional bistro with a lively atmosphere. The food was simple but delicious, and I loved the feeling of being in a true Parisian institution. (23 mins walk)

Day 6: Disneyland Paris, Magic and Mickey Mouse

Day 7: Palace of Versailles, Madeleine

I spent the morning exploring the grand halls, gardens, and fountains of this magnificent palace, imagining the life of the French monarchy. It was a truly awe-inspiring experience.

In the afternoon, I explored the Église de la Madeleine (MAP) a beautiful church with a neoclassical facade. It was a peaceful respite from the bustling city, and I enjoyed the quiet atmosphere.

Then, I strolled through the Place de la Madeleine (MAP) admiring the architecture and the charming shops.

To end the day, I had a delicious meal at Café Madeleine Paris (€11-€20) (MAP), a classic Parisian café with a cozy atmosphere.

Day 8: Orangerie Museum, French National Library, and Chinatown

Day eight was a mix of art, history, and culinary adventure. I started with a delicious breakfast at my hotel and then headed to the Orangerie Museum (MAP) (€10-€12.5) to admire Monet's water lilies. The museum was a peaceful oasis, and I spent hours lost in the beauty of the paintings.

Day 9: Catacombs, Italian Cuisine, and Parisian History

Day nine was a journey into the dark side of Paris. I started with a visit to the eerie Paris Catacombs  (€3-€10) (MAP), an underground labyrinth of bones. It was a chilling and unforgettable experience, and I left with a newfound appreciation for the city's history.

In the afternoon, I explored the French History Museum (€7-€22) (MAP), a museum that tells the story of France from its earliest days to the present. I learned so much about the country's rich history and culture.

To end the day, I indulged in some Parisian shopping at Monoprix Supermarket (€20-€30) (MAP), a large department store with a wide variety of products. I found some great souvenirs and gifts for my friends and family.


For dinner, I enjoyed a cheesy fondue experience at PAIN VIN FROMAGE (€25-€40) (MAP), They serve traditional French dishes, with a focus on cheese-based meals like fondue and raclette. The restaurant has a rustic and cozy ambiance, perfect for a relaxed dining experience. They boast a wide variety of French cheeses, allowing diners to explore different flavors and textures.

Expertly paired wines complement the cheeses, enhancing the overall tasting experience. They situated in the heart of Paris, it’s easily accessible and a great spot to unwind after a day of exploring the city.


Day 10: Farewell to Paris, but Not Before One Last Croissant

My final day in Paris was bittersweet. I checked out of my hotel and enjoyed a final Parisian breakfast at Holybelly (€25-€40) (MAP), a popular brunch spot with delicious food and a lively atmosphere.


After 24 mins, I visited the Paris City Modern Art Museum (It's free) (MAP), a museum with a collection of modern and contemporary art. I was impressed by the museum's collection and the variety of styles on display.

For lunch, I enjoyed a classic Belgian waffle at Leon de Bruxelles (€14-€30) (MAP),a restaurant with a charming atmosphere.

In the afternoon, I explored the luxurious Galeries Lafayette Department Store (€10-€50) (MAP), a stunning building with a wide variety of shops and restaurants. I found some last-minute souvenirs and gifts for my friends and family.


To end my trip, I had a final Parisian meal at Au Chien Qui Fume (€10-€60) (MAP), a restaurant with a lively atmosphere and a menu of classic French dishes.

It was the perfect way to say goodbye to this amazing city. It just took 34 mins to the Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport.
